Bearing duty in Overhead Conveyors
Conveyor bearings here have to survive contamination, shock load and long running hours. Most of their life depends on the seal arrangement, load rating and housing fit you choose.
Overhead and trolley conveyors run on many small bearings in trolley wheels, chain guides and turn wheels, with flanged units on drive and take-up stations. Bearings often run at height, in hard-to-reach positions, and older systems may have flanged units with no visible model markings. Buyers need reliable sealed bearings and help finding exact replacements for legacy units.
- Use sealed deep groove ball bearings in trolley and guide wheels so they run long periods without relubrication.
- To identify unmarked flanged units, send photos with the bolt spacing, center height and shaft diameter.
- Choose flanged units with a locking method suited to shafts that see frequent start-stop indexing.
- Where the conveyor passes through ovens or paint lines, check the operating temperature against the seal and grease specification.
