Bearing duty in Ports & Bulk Terminals
Conveyor bearings here have to survive contamination, shock load and long running hours. Most of their life depends on the seal arrangement, load rating and housing fit you choose.
Port terminals and grain or bulk handling facilities run ship loaders, stackers, reclaimers and long belt conveyors around the clock. They also run pumps, motors and workshop equipment. Salt air, moisture, grain dust and wash-down cycles make seal selection critical. Terminal operators prefer one supplier who can cover conveyor bearings and general plant bearings together.
- Use corrosion-resistant housings and multi-lip seals on conveyors exposed to salt spray, rain and wash-down.
- In grain terminals, choose sealed units that keep fine grain dust out and keep lubricant from leaking into the product stream.
- Size bearings for 24/7 duty at real belt loads on ship-loading and reclaim conveyors.
- Combine conveyor, pump and motor bearings in one order to simplify purchasing and the shutdown schedule.
