Bearing duty in Belt Take-Up Units
Conveyor bearings here have to survive contamination, shock load and long running hours. Most of their life depends on the seal arrangement, load rating and housing fit you choose.
Take-up bearing units hold the tail or tensioning pulley and slide along a frame to keep belt tension correct. They sit low on the conveyor, where spillage, dust and wash-down water collect, and they take both belt tension and adjustment movement. Buyers most often struggle with mounting dimensions that don't match the existing frame and with take-up positions that keep failing.
- Order take-up units by frame slot width, guide groove dimensions and travel length as well as shaft diameter.
- At take-up positions that keep failing, consider a heavier unit with a triple-lip seal rather than a like-for-like replacement.
- Where the take-up is screw- or cylinder-adjusted, check the rod ends and linkage bearings at the same time as the main unit.
- Keep spare take-up units for every conveyor so a failure doesn't stop the line.
